Tove Eggen Hoffstad. Glas and Art.

Tove was born and raised in Sollia. Since graduating as a designer, she has taught in both secondary and third level education, and cultural college primarily in drawing and painting.

She is currently working with glass, melting and forming it as a material into plates, pictures and tiles.

The glass is built up in several different layers and patterns, before they are melted together in a day long burning process. After this it is shaped in the glass oven during the next day-long burning process . The plates are created mainly  in an enlongated shape, 30 - 35 cm wide, and 50 cm long, making them both easy and practical to handle. Even those made in large circle shapes, 50 cm in diameter, attain an impressive expression and depth.

The plates can be made in different sizes according to their purpose: table decoration, serving of food, or to be hung on a wall either indoors or outdoors.

The tiles/ pictures are made according to standard sizes, 10 x 10cm, 15 x 15cm, 20 x 20cm, etc., or to order. These tiles/pictures can be used in conjunction with ceramic tiles, glued to wood or similar foundation surfaces in the kitchen, the bathroom or around the fireplace, etc. They also make beautiful pictures e.g., in a cast-iron setting with a tea-light to illuminate and accentute the art work.

Every one of these products is entirely  made  by hand, and is totally unique, never being reproduced. Prices can vary from product to product, and so are displayed under each single item.
